Yonkers Second Annual Artists Showcase at Yonkers Riverfront Library PDF Stampa E-mail

Forty artists, living or working in Yonkers, will show selections of their work in an exhibition at the Yonkers Riverfront Library, from Saturday April 24th, 2010 through Saturday, May 29th.  The exhibition has been curated by two Yonkers artists Gino Civale and Luis Perelman. Through the last twenty years, various local arts organizations, including Art on Main Street/Yonkers, the Blue Boor Artist Association, the West Room Gallery (part of the Yonkers Board of Education Cultural Arts programs) and the Yonkers Public Libraries have made it possible for many local artists to display their works in Yonkers, often for the first time.  At this time over two hundred visual artists live or work in Yonkers, with many of them working in YOHO, the former Alexander Carpet Mill in Nepperhan Valley. The Second Yonkers Artist showcase at the Riverfront Library marks the existence of a group of remarkable artists in Yonkers, showing a variety and creativity comparable to what is found in New York City.  The curators have selected not only contemporary painting and sculpture but also traditional photography and figurative works.  The Library patrons will see an extraordinary selection of artworks, and as well as quality and variety, in the beautiful 2,500 square feet of exhibition space at the fourth floor of the Library.  Artists included are: Luis Arvelo, Richard Benash, Ana Bernstein, Jef Campion, Gino Civale, Liz de Bethune, Arthur Dworin, David Fischweicher, Ginny Fox, Ralph Gabriner, Marco Gosar, Paul Greco, George Gutierrez, Richard Haas, Joan Jennings, Satish Joshi, Barbara King, Jacqueline Lorieo, Leslie Miller, Alvin Most, Carole Naggar, George Pali, Luis Perelman, Albert Pfarr, Librado Romero, Dena Schutzer, Barbara Segal, Nat Mayer Shapiro, Maxine Short, Arline Simon, Cecily Spitzer, Paulo Suzuki, Turhan Von Brandon, Jonathan Wallen, Celeste Walls-Kepler.
